ATHAR — Dream Meanings

ATHAR is a dream dictionary that shows its sources. Look up a symbol and read what the classical Arabic sources actually say — with the book, the section, the page, and how confident we are that the attribution is real.

Why this site exists

Search results for dream interpretation are saturated with confident sentences attributed to Ibn Sirin, with no book, no edition and no page number, copied between sites until the original claim is untraceable. We do the opposite: if we cannot cite it, we do not publish it.

A note on attribution

Most of what circulates under Ibn Sirin’s name reaches us through compilations assembled centuries after his death in 110 AH. So the honest phrasing is “attributed to”, not “said by” — and that is the phrasing we use.

The dream interpreter

Our dream interpreter searches a verified source database and returns real entries only, each with its book, section and page. When we have no verified entry for a symbol, it says so rather than inventing one.

Current status

The English side of this site is being built. Arabic articles are published and unchanged at their original URLs; English articles are written independently for English search behaviour rather than translated, and are published as they are completed.
