Dream Interpretation

Dream interpretation has a long written tradition, and a great deal of what circulates online today is a long way from it. These guides work the other way round: they start from the classical dream-interpretation sources, say plainly what those sources do and do not record, and separate that material from modern psychological research rather than blending the two.

Table of Contents

Each article reads a symbol in context — where the dream took place, what happened in it, and how the dreamer felt — because that is how the classical interpreters read them. None of it is a prediction, and none of it is presented as certainty.

Dream guides by topic

Every guide below reads one symbol the same way: the details of the scene first, then what the classical sources record, then what a dream cannot establish.

Animals and reptiles

Insects

Scorpions and spiders

Loss and remembrance

Fish and water creatures

Gold, money and jewellery

Feelings in dreams

  • Crying in a dream — what quiet tears, sobbing and the details may mean, and what the dream can’t tell you

Marriage and relationships

The body in dreams

Journeys and places

  • Travel in a dream — leaving, arriving and coming home, what the books actually record, and what a dream cannot settle about a trip

How dream interpretation works

New guides are added to this list only once they are published.
